QUOTE

β€œThe trick is knowing when to tilt the table.”

Background & Overview

Tilt is a luck-based hero who can manipulate the threads of fortune, bending the outcomes of events to her will. Her powers can shift probabilities in subtle and dramatic ways, but they are far from guaranteed, often leaving her reliant on quick thinking when fate doesn’t fully cooperate. Tilt thrives on randomness and the thrill of the unknown, seeing the world as a giant game where every move could tilt the odds.

Description

Tilt has a thin, waifish outline and is marked by small tattoos scattered across her body. The tattoos vary in design, subject, and color, but all represent symbols of good or bad fortune across different societies and mythologies, giving her an eclectic and seemingly random appearance. She has short, asymmetric hair and a general counter-culture style, embodying her chaotic and unpredictable nature.

  • She has eclectic fashion, and tattoos reflecting symbols of luck and fortune from across the world.
  • Her powers over luck and misfortune allow her to avoid attacks, make opponents Vulnerable, and Shake and Stun them.
  • She doesn’t fully understand how or why her powers work, which makes her very superstitious.

Origin Story

Born as Dalia Chance to a Lithuanian immigrant mother and a down-on-his-luck American businessman, Dalia developed a passion for pinball, a love she inherited from her mother, who had worked on the artwork for pinball machines before passing away from cancer. Pinball became a way for Dalia to connect with happier moments from her past, and she spent much of her time at the local arcade.

After her mother’s passing, Dalia’s life took a dark turn. She endured bullying at school, and at home, her father spiraled into alcoholism and depression. One day, while hiding from her bullies, Dalia stumbled upon an old pinball machine left behind a dumpster near the arcade. The machine was called Fortune and featured a 13-ball multiball wizard mode. Though it wasn’t plugged in, it mysteriously worked.

Dalia managed to reach the high score, and in that moment, the machine pulsed, sending a shockwave through her body and knocking her unconscious. When she woke up, the machine had vanished, but she soon discovered she had gained the ability to manipulate eventsβ€”much like nudging a pinball machine to alter the game’s outcome. From that day on, she became Tilt, a hero who uses her powers to influence luck and fortune.

This stems from not fully understanding how her powers work.
