The Phoenix Zharika is the mystical embodiment of the Phoenix Flame and a legendary raptor born from the ashes of the extinguished flame. As a powerful magical being, she is both a protector and force of rebirth, merging her essence with the hero Emberwing to grant her dominion over fire and flight.

Background

Zharika is the latest incarnation of the Phoenix Flame, a source of elemental power that has existed since ancient times. When the flame is extinguished, the Phoenix is reborn from its ashes, a cycle of death and rebirth that reflects the balance of destruction and renewal in nature.

Zharika was resurrected during a time of great peril when militants known as The Deathless sought to corrupt the Phoenix Flame. In an act of desperation, the Phoenix Flame called out to Emilia Zharova, merging its essence with her to prevent its power from falling into the wrong hands. Now, Zharika exists within Emilia, enhancing her abilities and guiding her in the pursuit of balance and justice.

The Phoenix Flame and Zharika are intertwined with the mystical Order of the Phoenix, who for centuries have safeguarded its legacy and ensured its rebirth.

Special Abilities

  • Damage Field (6): Radiating Flames. As an action, deal 3d6 4AP Lethal damage to all adjacent characters in a SBT.
  • Dodge (4): Attacks against Zharika suffer –4 penalty.
  • Environmental Resistance (3): Zharika is immune to Fire.
  • Explode (4): Use a limited action to become Stunned and deal 5d10 damage in an LBT. Big Bang. Failsafe. Temporary Disintegration: must make a Focus roll to reform (cannot be stunned or shaken). The hero can’t be targeted or communicated with while disintegrated. The blast knocks foes back (see Knockback rules)
  • Flight (10): Zharika can fly at pace 180 (120mph). Maneuverable: run die is 2d6. Attack penalties are –2.
  • Melee Attack (9): Zharika has natural Bite and Claws typical of raptors.
    • Bite: Str+4d6–2 damage, 2 AP.
    • Claws: Str+4d6–2 damage, 2 AP, can Charge (limited action) for +1d6 on next action.
  • Resurrection (3): Zharika turns to ash after being fully Incapacitated but can be reborn from those ashes with a successful Focus –4 roll. The process takes one full round and Zharika arises Exhausted with 3 Wounds. Limited to self.
  • Regeneration (7): Zharika regenerates a Wound on a successful Focus roll (two on a raise) every 1 hour and ignores one point of Fatigue penalties.
  • Size βˆ’2 (Small):Β Zharika is slightly larger than most Eagles at roughly 3ft tall, and is light-weight.
