The heroes received invites to an exclusive Fashion Show at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Chinatown.
Sky Diamond attends with his colleague who was also possessed by a symbiote. Her name is Jennifer Lee. She’s a producer for Paragon News 1.
Scaramouche pretended to be an elite city socialite to gain access, and used an illusion for disguise.
Ratigon was invited personally by the girl from the coffee shop, who turns out to be Lana Smith, the host of the event.
Bia received a fancy invitation in the mail from the enigmatic host of the event Seraphine.
The party all arrives and naturally Bia is getting attention, but she runs into Lana on the red carpet, and realizes that she was the one who invited her.
Bia fights back her jealousy and irritation as Lana doles our back-handed compliments.
The Party notices that the Private Security for the event isn’t doing a great job. Security is pretty relaxed all around.
Lana is there with Damian Vale, her new beau. He’s funded this entire event in her honor.
Near the stage in the center of the venue is Qin’s Stardrop Pendant, the artifact that was marketed as the centerpiece of this event (next to Seraphine herself, of course).
Sky Diamond realizes that the artifact has a similar energy to his spacecraft.
Scaramouche uses his mask and hears whispers about the metallic energy and power the Pendant has to enhance or strengthen powers. The legends say it’s wearer can “melt the weapons of opposing armies”
The event goes on and near the middle of the evening, goons bust through the windows, yelling at everyone to get down. People run or drop to the floor.
The goons appear superpowered and have subtle metallic energy coursing through them.
They make their way to the Stardrop Pendant.
Bia punches a goon 18ft across the room.
Ratigon looses some crossbow bolts, and sees a man that looks like Mr. Clean, only superpowered. The man acknowledged Ratigon before jumping out the window as things appear to go sideways.
Scaramouche is Yellow and frightened by a goon into dropping to the floor. But he still manages to use his Illusion Mirror on the Artifact and immediate area, making it appear normal to outside viewers.
Sky Diamond stands near the Pendant defensively.
The Party notices that the security (and Vale himself) are gone.
In a surprise move, Seraphine, live streaming as she goes, collects the pendant and puts it on.
Sky Diamond doesn’t believe she’s a threat and escorts her out of the venue. She live streams the entire time, talking about how brave she is for rescuing the artifact herself.
Conveniently Vale is outside with his supercar, ready to take Seraphine out of there.
They leave Sky Diamond behind, as sirens start to draw near.
Notes
The Pendant appears to be of a similar material to Sky Diamond’s spacecraft, but far more ancient.
Why was Vale’s own security so lax?
The Goons appeared to have metallic pulsing energy through their veins.
Did Seraphine know the villains were coming? She acted innocent.
The Authorities are on the way, and will want answers. In a world fearful and skeptical of powered individuals, will the party stay to answer their questions?
