Background & Overview
Chase Star is a dedicated environmental scientist specializing in geology, geography, and chemistry, and an environmental specialist for Mayor Wu’s office. Star was transformed after investigating a meteor crash that brought alien entities to Earth. The crystalline symbiote, a noble warrior on its home planet, chose him as its host, sharing it’s extraordinary abilities. The bond gives the character the power to manipulate crystalline structures, enhanced durability, and in moments of stress or actions, causes his skin to become translucent and crystalline in appearance.
Description
In his normal state, Chase appears as a typical scientist, giving no indication of his latent powers. However, when Sky Diamond’s powers activate, his skin shifts to a translucent crystalline form that reflects light in prismatic colors, creating the effect of dancing light across his body. The transformation enhances his physical capabilities, making him more durable and resilient, and allows him to generate crystalline formations for offense or defense. Sky Diamond can craft barriers, weapons, or manipulate nearby minerals, giving him versatility in combat. His eyes glow faintly during these transformations, a testament to the crystal’s sentience and power.
- Chase retains full control but is influenced by the crystal’s noble mindset.
- Transformation involves skin turning crystalline during action or stress.
Origin
Sky Diamond’s origin traces back to when a meteor-like object crashed near the city, drawing the attention of government officials, tech corporations, and scientists, including the Chase Star through his connection to Mayor Wu’s office. The meteor contained four sentient life forms from a distant, dying solar system, each with different natures and powers. One of these was a noble crystalline warrior, which bonded with Star in a symbiotic relationship.
The crash was not accidental. The entities had been passengers within the meteor-like object and sent hurtling toward Earth by forces unknown. Upon bonding with the crystal, Star gained new abilities but soon discovered he was not the only one affected. One of his colleagues bonded with a darker, more malevolent entity—the metallic being Metallo who had been imprisoned in the meteor. This entity, now empowered, killed another investigator, further complicating the dynamic.
The crystalline entity bonded with Star because of his fascination with science and capacity to learn and adapt. Together, they aim to understand their connection while confronting the new threats posed by the other bonded entities, including Metallo, who remains imprisoned at Alcatraz for the murder of Star’s co-worker. However, the threat of Metallo’s potential escape looms large, as does the mystery of the other entities’ origins and intentions.
